Official Arlington County criminal records must be requested from the office that created or maintains them. The contacts below distinguish police files, sheriff and detention records, court documents, and statewide criminal-history responses. This private site cannot accept a public-records request or issue a record, but it can identify the correct government custodian.

This Is Not a Government Office. This private reference site cannot retrieve, correct, seal, or expunge a record, perform an official check, or receive a filing.

Need an Official Record?

Route an Arlington County request by the record type and its legal custodian:

  • Court case files: see criminal court case records, or contact the clerk of the court that heard the case
  • Court case files: call Arlington General District Court at 703-228-7900 or Circuit Court at 703-228-7010, based on the case level
  • Virginia repository records: use the Virginia Department of State Police SP-167 process through its CARE unit
  • Police and local arrest records: reach ACPD Office of Records, Suite 2100, at 703-228-4292
  • Booking and detention records: contact the Arlington County Sheriff's Office at 703-228-4460
  • Police incident files: ask the agency that created the report; ACPD case material may require a VFOIA request
  • Expungement or sealing: file in the court required by Virginia law, often Arlington Circuit Court for eligible local matters

For sheriff and detention requests, contact the Arlington County Sheriff's Office, 1425 North Courthouse Road, Suite 9100, Arlington, VA 22201, at 703-228-4460. Its VFOIA officer can be reached at 703-228-4468. Police records are kept separately by ACPD in Suite 2100 of the same courthouse complex.
