Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query under its own systems. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Messages sent by email may be retained so our team can respond and preserve the exchange. We do not disclose a message beyond the organization unless the law requires us to do so.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems receive routine technical information when a page loads, including:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on a device. They and analytics services help measure traffic, popular pages, and points where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, though doing so may change how some site functions behave.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Arlington County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to Arlington police, the sheriff, Virginia courts, the Virginia Department of State Police, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a record about another person. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Virginia repository dissemination is separately governed by Va. Code §19.2-389.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms govern any query sent through a tool, including retention or sharing choices that we cannot set. Review the provider's policy before entering information.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Arlington County offices, Virginia courts and agencies, legal resources, or commercial tools. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read it before providing personal data.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. We do not control that outside tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Information may be received by:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used for data in our control. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If such information is identified, a deletion request may be made.

Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may provide rights over personal data. Virginia public records are also governed by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Va. Code §2.2-3700 et seq. Subject to the law and any valid exception, you may:
